Rebecca Minkoff on Her Parenting Strategy and the Myth of Mom Balance
In New Mom, New Style, pregnant InStyle editor-at-large, Kahlana Barfield Brown, talks to the celebrity moms who inspire her to hear their real talk on all things baby.
No one doles out advice better than moms, especially when that advice is about, well, being a mom. So, on the brink of delivering her first child (it's a girl!), InStyle's editor-at-large Kahlana Barfield Brown, sat down with fashion designer, Fashion, Inc! judge, and mom-of-two Rebecca Minkoff for some serious baby talk.
Minkoff and a “super pregnant” Brown tackle the nitty gritty of parenting in a game called “This or That.” Natural labor or epidural? Cloth or disposable diapers? Breastfeeding, public or private? (To that, Minkoff has a straightforward stance: “If you want to let that sucker out, do it.”)
And what about all that talk about balance moms hear all the time? Minkoff, who Brown describes as #momgoals, is over it. “My view on balance is that there is no such thing as balance,” replies Minkoff. “It’s about juggling and I think it’s about flow.”
