2018 is turning out to be the year of the royal wedding. Not only was the world treated to the nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, this fall, royal watchers will get a second helping of pomp and circumstance. Princess Eugenie, Harry and William's first cousin, is set to walk down the aisle on October 12, but according to Harper's Bazaar, the pews at St. George's could be missing one major player: Kate Middleton.

Unfortunately, Middleton may have to check the "will not be attending" box on her invite. Her sister, Pippa, is expecting a baby and according to reports coming from Closer and the Express, the birth of Kate's niece could coincide with Eugenie's ceremony. Royal obligation is one thing, but Kate will probably want to be with her sister for such a major occasion. The magazines also report that Kate's already given Pippa a few hand-me-downs from George and Charlotte, so she's clearly very excited for her upcoming role as royal aunt.

While Kate's attendance is unclear at this point, both Princess Charlotte and Prince George should be making an appearance. Just like they did at their uncle Harry's wedding, they'll be putting in time as bridesmaid and page boy, respectively, on Princess Eugenie's big day. Their experience at past royal weddings will come in handy, too. Charlotte will apparently "lead" the bridesmaids during the upcoming ceremony. George served as a page boy at Pippa Middleton’s wedding in 2017, so he should know exactly what to do this time around.

Another royal that could be MIA? Prince Philip, Eugenie's grandfather. Because even royals have family drama to deal with, Philip could skip out on 2018's second royal wedding because of some beef he has with Sarah Ferguson, Eugenie's mother. There's still some bad blood after the 1992 divorce that happened between Ferguson and Prince Andrew. Philip also underwent a hip replacement earlier this year, so it was a huge deal that he made it to Harry and Meghan's wedding in the first place. With family strife and medical reasons, it may be a long shot to assume that Philip heads to Windsor Castle for another wedding.
