It's a sad day for many, as one of the most highly-regarded fashion designers Karl Lagerfeld has died at age 85.

Lagerfeld's creativity touched countless people, and in honor of his passing, his celebrity fanbase paid tribute to the art director of Chanel and Fendi with final farewells on social media.

On Instagram, fellow fashion mastermind Victoria Beckham shared her perspective on Lagerfeld's "genius."

"So incredibly sad to hear this. Karl was a genius and always so kind and generous to me both personally and professionally," she wrote, adding: "RIP :broken_heart:x vb."

Others, including Donatella Versace, Alexa Chung, and Lily Allen, wrote their own heartfelt messages to Karl, but perhaps Diane Kruger's note is the most tear-inducing of them all.

In an Instagram post, Kruger — who was a front row fixture at Karl's runway shows for Chanel — revealed that she was supposed to introduce Karl to her daughter this week, but realized that their plans were unexpectedly canceled this morning.

"Karl.....I cannot tell you how much you meant to me and how much I will miss you :hearts: I will never forget your kindness towards me, your laughs, your imagination :hearts: ," she began her message. "I came to France to see you this week and introduce you to my daughter...I’m heartbroken I was too late :hearts: Rest In Peace, I adore you :hearts:"

RIP, Karl. You're sincerely missed. Scroll below for more celebrity reactions to Lagerfeld's untimely death.
