This Overnight Face Mask Completely Transformed My Skin
Everyone has heard the tried and true skincare rules. Never go to sleep with your makeup on. Wash your face every day. Reapply sunscreen every chance you can. The list goes on and on.
Being a beauty editor means I take perfect care of my skin right? Wrong.
Confession: I have broken each and every skincare rule you can think of. No SPF on the beach? Done it. Tanning beds? (Shamefully) done it. Forgot to moisturize? Done it. Stayed out too late and left all my makeup on? Definitely done it. Beauty editor title aside, most of my middle school through college years were spent sans skincare routine (cringe-worthy, I know).
It wasn't until after I moved to New York and started interning at magazines when I realized the importance of skincare. From then on, my shelves have been overflowing with sunscreens, serums, masks, toners, and retinols of every kind. Becoming a beauty editor has only intensified my hoarding habit, making it harder to distinguish differences from one product to the next.
That being said, some products rise above the rest. The Dr. Brandt Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask ($52, sephora.com) is the perfect example. I started using this a couple of months ago when the product first came out. After the very first use, my skin felt noticeably softer and looked visibly brighter.
This mask is meant to be worn post cleansing before bed. Made with yogurt powder, the mask's creamy texture dries instantly after applied onto the face, making it easy to use and pillow safe. The secret is the mask works with the skin's natural ecosystem to restore balance and moisture lost from everyday routines such as exposure to pollution and UV rays, stress, diet, etc.
Moisture is one of the keys to healthy, happy skin, and this masks locks it in with a deeply hydrating blend of ceramides, fatty acids, soothing actives, and tamarindo extract.
This mask is safe to use every day and has received a permanent position in my skincare routine. I simply apply after cleansing, go to sleep (no need to rinse off), and wake up the next day to refreshed, glowing skin.
