The story of how Matthew McConaughey’s firstborn son got his name just may be our new favorite. During a recent appearance on Good Morning America, the Dark Tower star revealed that he and wife Camila Alves chose the name Levi from six other possible monikers after a fortuitous coincidence shortly after the little guy was born.
"Levi's another name for Matthew in the bible," the 47-year-old father of three told host Michael Strahan. "We had talked about possibly Matthew Jr. if he was a boy. And my favorite [verse] in the bible is Matthew 6:22."
So the fact that he was born at 6:22 p.m. on the dot didn’t go unnoticed. Levi was the clear choice. "We find out he’s a boy when he’s born. You’re not thinking about the name, right?" he continued. "An hour later, the doctor comes up and he hands you that card to fill out: 'Blank was born at 6:22 p.m.' So we went, 'It’s Levi.'"

“Becoming a dad is something I’ve dreamed of doing since I was 10,” McConaughey told OK Magazine shortly after Levi was born in 2008. Becoming a father felt very, very natural.
Levi, who recently turned 9, has two younger siblings: four-year-old Livingston and seven-year-old Vida.
