The first full trailer for Marvel's The Defenders is here, and it reveals our heroes’ not-so-cute meet-cutes.
When Luke Cage's Misty Knight (Simone Missick) calls Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) in for questioning, Matthew Murdoch (Charlie Cox) shows up and agrees to represent her. Elsewhere, Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) tells her beau, Luke Cage (Mike Colter), that there’s someone he needs to meet: Danny Rand (Finn Jones). Except, their first meeting doesn’t go well and Luke’s face ends up meeting the Iron Fist.
“I’m the immortal Iron Fist,” says Danny Rand.
“You’re what?” replies Luke Cage in one several humorous moments in the clip.
The trailer also confirms Elektra’s resurrection, which was hinted at in a short teaser that Netflix released Tuesday. Elodie Yung’s deadly assassin is present for the mandatory hallway fight scene at the Midland Circle Building where The Defenders join forces for the first time (for which EW was on set). But, it’s clear that she’s there as a foe because she sends her former lover flying to a sheet of glass. Clearly, she has embraced her destiny as the Black Sky.
Sigourney Weaver also makes her debut as the miniseries’ mysterious villain Alexandra in the trailer as well. She confronts The Defenders at a Chinese restaurant to offer them some advice. “The more connections you have, the easier it will be to break you,” she says threateningly.
However, our heroes’ loved ones aren’t the only ones at stake; Marvel’s beloved New York City is too. “The war for New York is here, so get your sh– together,” Stick (The Leftovers's Scott Glenn) says to the Defenders.

The Defenders hits Netflix on Aug. 18.
