Get to Know the New 'Gossip Girl' Cast
Secure your HBO Max password ASAP — the show's launching in July!
Prepare for another trip to the Upper East Side and the ever-watchful eye of Gossip Girl.
While just about everyone will remember Gossip Girl's original run on The CW — love it or hate it — HBO Max is set to reboot the trials and tribulations of upper-crust New York teenagers and all the trouble they can get into at their private schools. And it's coming soon — as in, JULY!
Snapshots from the show's production have already garnered plenty of thoughts, especially since the cast is decidedly more diverse than everyone's first fictional foray into the world of New York society. And knowing that the series shot stars Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, and Chace Crawford into the stratosphere, it's likely that the new cast is about to make it big — very big.
Here's who you need to know and who you can expect to see all over Gossip Girl's faux headlines and, in due time, real-life ones, too.
Emily Alyn Lind
One of the first names attached to the reboot, Lind will portray Audrey Hope. Deadline reports that the character "has been in a long term relationship and is beginning to wonder what more could be out there." She sounds a lot like Blair Waldorf, though viewers won't know any more details until the show hits HBO Max.
Lind's résumé includes ABC's Revenge, where she played a young Amanda Clarke, and CBS's Code Black. She's also had roles in Days of Our Lives, All My Children, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-0, The Secret Life of Bees, and The Babysitter.
Alexander took center stage in a few of the latest paparazzi shots. According to IMDb, Alexander has had roles in the TV series Sacred Lies and Unbury the Biscuit. She'll be playing Julien Calloway.
A newcomer, Deadline reports that she'll have a lead role in the series and the official Gossip Girl Instagram account offered a name: Monet de Haan — though the publication didn't offer any other details.
Fans of teen dramas remade for streaming services may recognize Peak. She played Judith Blackwood in Part 3 of Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. She'll play Zoya Lott when the Upper East Siders' antics hit the airwaves.
Brown is no stranger to teenage angst. He played Dylan Walker on Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. His Gossip Girl character is named Otto Bergmann IV. Roman numerals mean trouble.
Fernandez played Bernard Scorsese on Lethal Weapon for three seasons. He has also had roles on Girls and Younger.
Gotay has had roles on stage and on screen. He's been in productions of Bring It On and Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, as well as TV's broadcast of Peter Pan Live!
Doherty's roles span prestige TV and more mainstream flicks, including Disney's Descendants, HBO's Catherine the Great, and Hulu's High Fidelity. His new character is named Max Wolfe.
Model and skateboard savant can count the new Gossip Girl as his first acting role. It's tough to miss his statement-making shaved head in paparazzi snaps.
Fans of TNT's campy, dark caper Claws may recognize Moreno. The Gossip Girl IG noted that she'll play Luna La — and with a caption like "style," fans could be looking at the new Blair Waldorf.
Another vet of the stage, Chanler-Berat played Henry in Next to Normal, Peter in Peter and the Starcatcher, and Nino in Amélie.
Superstar blogger turned actor, Gevinson has had roles in Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens and CBS's reboot of The Twilight Zone. She'll be playing Kate Keller on the new Gossip Girl.
