The Game of Thrones Cast Gets a Costume Change for Season 7—Take a Peek
While we await this year’s delayed premiere of Game of Thrones Season 7, HBO has been sending out little nuggets to hold us over. The latest is a general promo about the iconic “Ahhh” that opens every HBO show, which gives us a look at a large chunk of the ensemble cast.
The ad, which came out on Friday, shows main players like Cersei, Jaime, and Tyrion Lannister; Jon Snow; Daenerys Targaryen; Sansa and Arya Stark in what looks like their Season 7 costumes. Cersei looks poised in her newfound crown, while Tyrion proudly wears the “Hand of the Queen” pin that Daenerys presented him with in the season finale.
Speaking of, the Mother of Dragons looks positively regal in a fur-trimmed outfit, which could be a sly nod to her relation to Jon Snow—or simply due to the fact that she’s moving to a colder climate. Jon himself is sporting a spiffy new fur, as is his half-sister Sansa. Arya looks ready to fight in a lace-up leather look, with her trusty Needle by her side.
Hodor even makes an appearance in the promo, fueling rumors that he could appear in Season 7 as something not quite human.
To further pique our interest, actress Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Missandei in the series, appeared on Thursday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! but failed to reveal any hints about the upcoming season (“I’m a fortress. You’re not going to get anything!”). She did, however, dish on her on-screen language, Valyrian.
“There’s high Valyrian, low Valyrian, and the words, like, mean stuff. So when they send me my lines, he’s like created the word for ‘dragon’ or created the word for ‘queen.’ It has meaning,” she told Kimmel.
