Here's the First Look at Nicole Kidman As Lucille Ball On Set of 'Being the Ricardos'

We love (Lucy) Nicole Kidman. And The Undoing actress is channeling the legendary comedian Lucille Ball for her latest role.

Kidman was spotted on the set of Oscar-winner Aaron Sorkin's new biopic Being the Ricardos, where the actress will play Ball alongside Javier Bardem as her husband Desi Arnaz. In this first look, Kidman is seen wearing a light-orange wavy wig and costume underneath a black coat in between takes.

Being the Ricardos is a biographical drama about Ball and her husband Arnaz, during one week of production of their enormously popular 1951 sitcom I Love Lucy. According to Deadline, the movie will chronicle a "Monday table read through Friday audience filming — when Lucy and Desi face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage." As fans will recall, Ball and Arnaz did split in 1960.

Fans weren't initially very happy about the casting, saying Debra Messing would've been the obvious choice, given her resemblance to the comedy legend. Cate Blanchett was also in talks to play Ball.

Kidman's 2021 is shaping up to be a busy year, as she will also star in Hulu's Nine Perfect Strangers and recently wrapped production on Robert Eggers's The Northman. Bardem also has a big year — he was cast as King Triton in Disney's highly anticipated upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
