Whether you’re looking for emotion and romance, action and adventure, or a travel series hosted by Zac Efron (yes, this is really happening), the July 2020 Netflix arrivals have you covered. July isn’t exactly known as being the month of love and candy hearts, but Netflix added some of cinema’s most noted romantic films, including the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks's The Notebook. Making its return back to the streaming platform after its previous departure, the movie, starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, was made for feeling all of the feels. Another eternal rom-com classic, Sleepless In Seattle, also joined the Netflix fam on July 1. Released in 1993, the movie, starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, centers on an unlikely long-distance romance that begins with a (landline) telephone call. Those in need of a post-Notebook pick-me-up should turn to the second season of The Umbrella Academy. The high-action science fiction series, based on graphic novels written by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, features a star-studded cast, including Ellen Page and Robert Sheehan. The series debuts on July 31, along with the colorful cooking show, Sugar Rush: Extra Sweet. As with every month of new Netflix arrivals, there’s a number of departing titles. Take a final trip through the city with Carrie Bradshaw and company before Sex and the City 2 leaves Netflix on July 31; and not even a time machine can stop the departure of the complete Back to the Future franchise, which also departs on July 31. Other notable departures include Bolt, featuring the voice talents of John Travolta and Miley Cyrus, which leaves July 21, and the Incredibles 2, which departs July 29. Below, check out the complete list of Netflix arrivals and departures for July 2020. A Walk to Remember Available July 1 Mandy Moore and Shane West star in this Nicholas Sparks novel-turned-film. Released in 2002, the film adaptation is just as stirring, full of love, and emotional as its book counterpart. The story centers on Landon Carter (West) and Jamie Sullivan (Moore), two students brought together under some unlikely circumstances. After befriending Jamie, Landon, a bad boy at their local school, begins to fall for her — an unlikely pairing considering she’s the daughter of the small town’s Baptist minister. Unfortunately, their love comes with a few emotional tolls, and the gripping film is one that will leave you reaching for the tissues. The Baby-Sitters Club Available July 3 Netflix Ann M. Martin’s popular Baby-Sitters Club book series gets a modern makeover in this Netflix original series. Although the setting and wardrobe were updated for the streaming service, the story from your childhood remains the same, focusing on five best friends determined to make their baby-sitter ambitions a reality. The series features Alicia Silverstone (as Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer) and Mark Feurestein (as Watson Brewer) as the all-knowing parental units, as well as a number of new faces as the titular baby-sitters. Down To Earth With Zac Effron Available July 10 Netflix Is there anything Zac Efron can’t do? After singing and dancing his way through the High School Musical franchise and becoming a storied Hollywood star, Efron is now ready for a new adventure as the host of a travel show. However, this is no ordinary globe trekking mission, as Efron intends to focus on sustainable efforts happening around the world. Traveling from France to Peru, and everywhere in between, Efron speaks with experts and locals to find out how others are practicing sustainable consumption.
