What to Watch on Netflix This October

This year has been filled with enough terror to last a lifetime, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t still celebrate the spooky season this Halloween.

Throughout the month of October, Netflix welcomes a number of Halloween-themed titles to its catalog, including a second volume of Unsolved Mysteries, arriving on Oct. 19, and Rebecca, a film starring Armie Hammer and Lily James that tells the thrilling tale of a wealthy estate with scary secrets and a ghostly former lover.

For those that need a serious break from the continued thrills and chills, the final season of Schitts Creek, the Emmy-award winning sitcom, premieres on Oct. 7. Social Distance, an eight-episode series focused on finding human connection, which stars Danielle Brooks of Orange is the New Black and Oscar Nunez of The Office, arrives on Oct. 15. Other must-watch October titles include the Oct. 9 premiere of Deaf U, a series centered on the stories of a community of deaf students attending college together, and BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky, a documentary about the rise of K-Pop girl group BLACKPINK.

Perhaps the scariest part of October is the departure of Parks and Recreation. Every season of the popular NBC sitcom will be removed from the streaming service at the start of the month. Other must-watch titles departing at the end of the month include Magic Mike and Sleepless in Seattle.

The Prince & Me

It’s a classic tale of girl-meets-boy, and boy is secretly a member of a royal family, in this 2004 romantic comedy featuring Julia Stiles and Luke Mably. Paige (Stiles), a determined student focused on a career in medicine, finds herself falling for Eddie (Mably), a seemingly ordinary member of the student body. However, when Paige discovers Eddie’s major secret — he’s heir to a throne — the two have to decide whether their love can work out.

Emily in Paris

Lily Collins stars in this Netflix original series that chronicles the adventure of a Midwesterner's move to Paris for a dream job. There’s absolutely nothing that could go wrong when Emily Cooper (Collins) moves her entire life across the globe for a marketing gig. Created by Darren Star, who was also responsible for Sex and the City, the show follows Emily’s attempts at making it work, falling in love, and finding her place.

‘Tis the season to begin your holiday watching. Emma Roberts stars in the Netflix rom-com that has two perpetually single people teaming up to act as one another’s plus ones during a season of family get-togethers and non-stop, "Are you seeing anyone" questions.
