The Best New Movies Hitting Theaters This July
It's summertime and the living is, as they say, easy. If you've got some time to kill between BBQs, you might consider spending it at the movie theater.
Though the film slate this month is pretty lean, it still packs an A-list punch. The latest installment of the Tom Holland and Zendaya led Spider-Man franchise premieres at the top of the month, for your obligatory summer Marvel experience. Then, the year of the Disney remake continues with something we've all been waiting for: The Lion King. You know, the one starring Beyoncé as Nala? And of course, you can't miss Quentin Tarantino's Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie vehicle, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is sure to be the most talked about movie of the summer. Assuming we are all done talking about Scar the lion being miscast, that is.

Spider-Man: Far from Home
When Peter Parker goes on a school trip to Europe, he thinks it'll be a vacation from his secret identity as Spider-Man. But that goes out the window when he's recruited by agent Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) to help battle some life-like forces of nature. Zendaya, Jake Gyllenhaal, Marisa Tomei, and Cobie Smulders also star.
A Chinese family is shaken when their beloved Nai Nai (grandmother) is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Instead of upsetting the matriarch with the news of her own impending death, the family schedules a wedding as the final gathering. Crazy Rich Asians breakout star Awkwafina plays Billi, a younger, westernized member of the family who has the hardest time grappling with the Eastern practices of her family.
Lying and Stealing
Theo James and Emily Ratajkowski play Ivan and Elyse, two extremely attractive con artists who take on the biggest heist of their lives in hopes that it will be their last.
If you're looking for a slapstick laugh this month, this is the movie for you. Funny guy Kumail Nanjiani stars as Stu, an Uber driver who gets thrust into an epic police mission when he picks up a cop hot on the trail of a wanted killer.
The Lion King
Can you feel the love tonight? The 1994 animated classic gets a live-action makeover this month, with a brand new, all-star cast lending their voices to the beloved characters. Donald Glover will voice Simba, with stars like Beyoncé, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key and John Oliver to round out the cast. But there's only one true Mufasa — James Earl Jones will reprise his role as the king of Pride Rock.
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood
Quentin Tarantino takes us on a trip back in time to 1969 Los Angeles at the time of the Manson murders. The highly anticipated Tinseltown tale boasts a packed ensemble cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Al Pacino and Dakota Fanning, among dozens of others who make this one early-season Oscars bait.
