Legal dramas have led network television for decades, with franchise giants like Law & Order, Criminal Minds, and NCIS at the forefront of the genre. New takes on the topic of crime and the justice system make their way to TV every season, but not all are successful. Most recently, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and The Night of made headlines for their outstanding casts, compelling storylines, and stellar performances, and if you were into either of these shows, then we've found your next series. Goliath is the latest legal tale to come to your television—or computer screen—premiering on Amazon Prime today, Oct. 14.

Billy Bob Thornton stars as Billy McBride, a once-powerful and successful lawyer who has lost his job, his wife (Maria Bello), and his dignity. Formerly one-half of the top legal firm Cooperman & McBride, Billy is now living out of a Venice Beach hotel room, drinking way too much, and (barely) making a living by taking on cases that are way below his capabilities. When the opportunity arises to go up against his former partner (William Hurt), Billy decides to take the case in hopes of making the ultimate comeback and getting justice for those who were wronged—including himself. If you like a good underdog story, this is one you'll want to tune in for.
