Judy Blume has always held a special place in the hearts of young readers everywhere. Now, the writer known for penning grade-school classics like Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and the brilliant but greatly underappreciated Blubber is sharing her scholastic wisdom with the masses with a $90 course on the online education platform MasterClass, starting in early 2018.

In the 15-lesson class, appropriately named "Judy Blume Teaches Writing," Blume will teach how to create memorable characters, write dialogue, and transform personal experiences into compelling narratives through unique exercises, like drafting a personal letter to yourself in someone else's voice.

"I hope that, in sharing with you what I've learned over 50 years of writing, that it will help you find your way as a writer," she says in the trailer for the class. "As a 12-year-old, I was obsessed by the idea of growing breasts and getting my period. But there was no place that I could read about it. When I started to write, I was determined to be honest. So I'm going to share with you the practical side of writing: process, story, voice, editing, dialogue, and character. There's nothing more important than character. You're living with these people for years. You had better feel for them."
