When it comes to boozy brunch, you're either on team Mimosa or Bloody Mary. If you fall in the latter category, we have a new recipe for you that—surprise!—doesn't use any alcohol.
This booze-free recipe comes from Jodie Snyder Morel, one of the co-founders of jewelry brand Dannijo. While pregnant and nursing, she needed a delicious, alcohol-free recipe that wouldn't leave her feeling left out from all the fun brunch activities that she loves. "I love Sunday brunch," she says. "My go to mocktail is a Bloody Mary," she tells InStyle. "I can't stand most sugary cocktail drinks, and Bloody Marys are filling and pretty much taste the same with or without alcohol," adding that it's a great drink to have while you're pregnant without feeling like you're missing out.
And don't worry, dear alcohol consumers, we didn't forget about you. If you don't understand the concept of having a mixed drink without any spirit, fret not. This drink works just as well (some would argue even better) with a bit of booze. Tito's is Morel's vodka of choice, and when you it comes to how much? "Add as much as you want," she says.
This recipe serves a crowd so whip up a batch or two for your next brunch soiree.
Virgin Bloody Mary
36 ounces tomato juice (we recommend Sacramento)
Juice of 2 lemons
1 tablespoon fresh horseradish (or as much as you want)
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
12-15 dashes of hot sauce (Tabasco)
How to Make It
Combine all ingredients with ice and add celery sticks and a slice of lemon in each cup.
