Ruth Bader Ginsburg, feminist icon and inspiration to people across the globe, passed away today at age 87. While many Americans are still in shock, Ginsburg's admirers paid tribute to her on social media, with messages coming from politicians on both sides of the aisle, entertainers, and more. Many called her a champion for justice, a trailblazer for women, and patriot. Fondly known as the Notorious RBG, her admirers highlighted her courage and strength.

Hillary Clinton, Mindy Kaling and Janet Mock, among others, noted that they considered her a hero and thanking her for her service to the country.

Meanwhile, Felicity Jones, who portrayed RBG in the 2018 film On the Basis of Sex, paid tribute to the justice for her "razor-sharp wit and extraordinary humanity" in a statement. "Ruth Bader Ginsburg gave us hope, a public figure who stood for integrity and justice — a responsibility she did not wear lightly," she said. "She will be missed not only as a beacon of light in these difficult times but for her razor-sharp wit and extraordinary humanity. She taught us all so much. I will miss her deeply."

Politicians also recalled her tenacity and fight, both in the Supreme Court and in her private life. Many called her death a loss for the entire nation.
