Kamala Harris Will (Briefly) Become Our First Woman President Today

In an ironic twist truly worthy of 2021, Vice President Kamala Harris will assume presidential power today, Nov. 19, which also happens to be International Men's Day (not to be confused with every single day of life as we know it).

According to White House press secretary Jen Psaki, President Joe Biden will be undergoing a colonoscopy today as part of a routine annual physical and will briefly be under anesthesia — naturally, this means that Biden's presidential powers will transfer to Harris during this period.

So not only will we technically get our first woman president today, but our first Black and South Asian woman president as well.

A colonoscopy typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes, so it's unlikely that Harris's tenure will be super impactful — but hey, history will remember! Though Kamala, if you're reading, a nationally mandated pizza party wouldn't be the worst use of your time …
