At long last, bathing suit season has finally arrived. Sunny days are upon us, the pools are (nearly) open, and we’ve never had more swimwear silhouettes to choose from. And for those of us who are most comfortable in a one-piece, there’s even better news: The style has never been more on trend. Whether you prefer something more covered up or a silhouette that still shows some skin (hello, plunging necklines), here are the five one-piece swimsuit trends I’ll be rotating between for summer 2023 as a celebrity stylist.

Cutouts

Here’s the deal with cutouts: When done correctly, the negative space they create on the body can be surprisingly flattering, as it creates an optical illusion on the body. Whether you go for a full on peek-a-boo party or just a simple one-strap oval shoulder display, the cutout look is a surefire hit. SHOP THE LOOK: CUPSHE X STASSIE One Piece Swimsuit ($40)

Earthy Hues

From full runway collections to makeup palettes, swimwear is no exception to this color trend. Going with neutral shades gives your beach attire a more modern and contemporary aesthetic, as these colors not only feel sleek and luxe, but look great on any skin tone. As a stylist, I recommend trying this trend with a little pop of bling: Anything from a belly chain to an ankle bracelet will take this look to another level. Plunging Necklines

If you’re interested in a “hot girl summer” situation, this is the vibe for you. Even if a low-cut neckline feels like too much in your everyday life, a swimsuit is the way to go for your very own JLo moment. The shape draws your eye inward giving the body an elongated line, making the style as flattering as it is eye-catching. SHOP THE LOOK: Andie The Mykonos One Piece LT ($98)

Crinkle Knits

As any vintage photo of Marilyn Monroe can demonstrate, sometimes simplicity makes for the best design. Plus, the textural fabric skims the body for a smooth fit (this Good American suit, for instance, is flexible enough to go up or down a size). Scalloped Edges

I love a little added character on a suit. Scalloped edged bathing suits feel very 1970s, and are here in full force this season. This simple design detail gives an understated elegance, but also adds a dose of fun that will make you feel like a kid again at the beach.
