Zooey Deschanel's "Modical" New Project with Tommy Hilfiger

Zooey Deschanel for Tommy Hilfiger

Several months ago, we revealed that Zooey Deschanel was designing a collection for Tommy Hilfiger, and now it's here! The brand celebrated the launch of the line, sweetly titled "To Tommy, From Zooey," last night at The London Rooftop in West Hollywood. Deschanel co-hosted the event with Hilfiger, and a multitude of stars including Malin Akerman, Jennifer Morrison, Hannah Simone, Jordana Brewster, and Zoey Deutch came out to fete the collaboration.

"I’ve always been a fan of the brand," Deschanel tells InStyle.com (in a dress from the line, below). "When the possibility came up to create this collection, I was really excited. I’ve been so lucky to get to work with Tommy." The excitement was mutual, as Hilfiger also expressed how much he enjoyed working with the quirky actress. "She’s fun and funky and humorous and sort of like the all American girl next door," says Hilfiger of Deschanel. "She is spirited."

The capsule collection is made up of 16 flirty dresses that mirror Deschanel's personal style, all in a signature Hilfiger palette of red, white, and blue. Bright and upbeat, the capsule captures the buoyant and youthful attitude of the 1960s. "I grew up sewing a lot of my clothes," Deschanel says. "It’s always something I’ve wanted to do. "The easy-to-wear dresses come in flattering silhouettes that Deschanel considers timeless. "I don’t believe in trends," she says. "I believe you should be setting your own trends."

The collection ($98 to $199) is available now at macys.com and tommy.com, and in select Macy’s and Tommy Hilfiger stores on April 14th.
