Zoë Kravitz expertly covered up a murder on Big Little Lies, but in real life, she’s not as great of a liar. The actress, who covers InStyle’s May issue, fessed up to her biggest fibs in our behind-the-scenes video, and it turns out she’s not the best at coverups.

As for her biggest lie, it was from her childhood. “When I was a kid I was a vegetarian—my mom decided I was a vegetarian. And then I went to Disneyland with my dad and I ate meat and I didn’t tell her for the longest time and it, like, ate me alive inside. And then I one day had to tell her, like, ‘I ate meat! And I’m sorry.’ I was like 10, so it was really hard on me,” she jokes in the video at top.

One thing that she’s great at lying about, though, is whether or not she’s into your look. “If people ask me if I like their outfit and I don’t like their outfit, I probably would still tell you that I like your outfit,” she quipped. That’s one little, white lie we can excuse.
