Zendaya’s Hairstylist Shares How to Get Her Slicked-Back Look from Paris Fashion Week
When it comes to style, Zendaya is the queen of versatility. Of the many hairstyles the star showed off during Paris Fashion Week (from cornrows to her go-to pixie wig), the stunning, slicked-back look she wore on Saturday might be our favorite one of all. “For Zendaya’s first day in Paris, she had a lot of wardrobe changes. We wanted a hairstyle that would go great with all of her looks throughout the day, and this was the perfect fit," hairstylist Jennifer Yepez tells InStyle.
To create the sleek look, Yepez first distributed Nexxus Diametress Volumizing Leave-in Conditioning Creme ($17; ulta.com) throughout the star’s long tresses. Next, she applied Oribe Grandiose Mousse ($37; oribe.com) on the roots, followed by Nexxus Pro-Mend Split End Binding Leave-In Treatment ($9; target.com) from the mid-shaft to the ends. Using a medium-sized round brush, the pro then blow dried Zendaya’s hair in sections, starting at the nape of the neck.
“Once I got to the area behind her ears, I focused more on the root area and applied a little more mousse to get more grip and hold to keep the style in place,” she says. “On the sides, crown and front, I used my Mason Pearson Brush and blow-dried the hair flat, following the shape of her head.”
Once the hair was completely dry, Yepez ran a flat iron over the ends, adding a bit of Nexxus Infinite Nourishing Hair Oil ($17; ulta.com) for a smooth, shiny finish. Finally, a spritz of hairspray locked the style in place.
