Imagine a mall, theme park and sporting venue all in one, and you've got a recently proposed New Jersey mall, aptly named American Dream Meadowlands. The proposal includes the world’s largest wave-generating pool (the size of a football field) and the country’s biggest ferris wheel — along with a ski slope, skydiving wind tunnels and all your favorite stores like Topshop, Uniqlo, and Zara. The complex would span 2.3-million square feet and host Cirque du Soleil performances. Sound outrageous? American Dream Meadowlands is nothing compared to these three over-the-top malls from around the world:

1. West Edmonton Mall, Alberta, CanadaThis mall is suited for thrill-seekers and avid shoppers alike. Aside from the over 800 stores to choose from, you can visit European, New Orleans, and China-themed areas or spend a day at the world's largest indoor water park. The mall houses the world's biggest indoor triple-loop rollercoaster, a haunted castle, golf course, nightclub, and the ever-popular Sea Life Caverns, where you can pet a sea lion.

2. Mall of the Emirates, DubaiTouted as the "world's first shopping resort" this mall holds the world-renowned Ski Dubai, the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort and snow park smack in the middle of the desert. Featuring an indoor theme park, multiple art galleries, and the Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Centre, this place has something for everyone! With multiple five-star hotels and every store you could imagine from Balenciaga to Nike, you truly never have to leave.

3. The Dubai Mall, DubaiAt over 12-million square feet, you would expect the world’s largest mall to have it all, and it does! More like a mid-sized city, it is home to 120 restaurants and 1,200 shops (like Oscar de la Renta and Stella McCartney), with 70 of those being dedicated exclusively to haute couture. The mall features a giant indoor theme park for all ages and a second “edu-tainment center” just for kids. It also contains the largest movie theater in Dubai, a Guinness World Record-setting aquarium, a gold market, and an Olympic-sized ice rink. Bonus: it is also connected to the tallest tower in the world, coming in at 124 floors high.
