Winona Ryder Steps Out in Givenchy for Tim Burton's Hand and Footprint Ceremony
To attend Tim Burton's hand and footprint ceremony at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California, on Thursday, the star stepped out in a short-sleeve bespeckled black Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci dress. Ryder accessorized the piece, which featured an A-line skirt and square-shaped white accents, with simple black pumps and small dangling earrings and wore her hair in a messy curly ponytail.
Ryder and Burton have worked closely together many times over the last 20-plus years, with the actress starring in many of his movies, like 1988's Beetlejuice (her in her first major film role), 1990's Edward Scissorhands, and most recently in his animated movie Frankenweenie.
At the ceremony, Ryder gave a speech thanking Burton for jumpstarting her career by casting her in Beetlejuice and for continuing to work with her through the years. "Tim understands the human heart in a way I have never seen, certainly on screen," she said. "He knows the pain of the misunderstood, of the odd, and even of the mad. He celebrates them in a way that is both totally unique, so very, very tender, sometimes terrifying, and very often hilarious."
Ryder's most recent work in Stranger Things has gotten her back in the limelight as Joyce Byers, a single mother whose son disappears under mysterious and supernatural circumstances. Watch the show, and you'll see why everyone is going crazy over this eight-chapter Netflix original.
