An exclusive report from Deadline reveals that the Suicide Squad star is in talks to play the beloved role of Genie in an updated live-action version of the 1992 classic film Aladdin. Disney (L), Art Streiber/CBS via Getty Now, Smith would have some seriously big shoes to fill—after all, the late Robin Williams's portrayal of Aladdin's comical blue sidekick took him beyond a household name with his effusive humor and charisma—but something tells us that the Collateral Beauty actor would hold his own and even breath new life into the character. Like the 2017 smash box office hit Beauty and the Beast, Disney's re-telling of Aladdin and Jasmine's story is also slated to be a musical (as is the Broadway show), and we're confident that the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star would have the vocals—plus the requisite charm and funny skills—down.
