Paris Jackson was among the elite to attend Dior’s 2019 Cruise show in Chantilly, France on Friday—but despite her early appearance, the 20-year-old model ultimately left an empty seat at the ornate venue.
The show, somewhat ill fated by a rainstorm settling in as the models hit the open-air runway, and drenching the front row guests (including Jackson, Emma Stone, Billie Lourde, and Stranger Things stars Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton), got off too a rocky start.
Things got even stranger (save us, Natalia and Charlie!) when a barefoot Paris, shoes soaked by the downpour, “stormed out” as the show began.
According to an InStyle source, it wasn’t the fashion that prompted Jackson to leave early, but the manner in which it was put on display. Female rodeo riders from Mexico were the inspiration for the collection, and were thus featured in the show, riding in on white horses.
The source said that Jackson "quietly slipped out of the Dior show" due to her concerns over the welfare of the animals performing. "She was very polite and explained her position to the Dior team upon exiting the venue," the source clarified. "As an animal advocate, Paris would like to see an end to using animals for live entertainment purposes."
A representative for Jackson declined to comment.
Jackson herself addressed her absence on social media, posting a photo of herself standing in a puddle outside the venue. “Left early n did this,” she captioned the image.
