It was the birthday party appearance heard around the world.

As if this weekend couldn’t be more jam-packed (NYFW and Grammys and BAFTAs, oh my!), Jennifer Aniston chose Saturday to kick off her 50th birthday celebrations with a star-studded bash that boasted basically everyone in Hollywood, including ex-husband Brad Pitt.

We’ve pored over the details about 5,439 times (the number of days they’ve been apart — just kidding, we have no clue) in the past 24 hours: the invite was last-minute, she was “very happy” he showed, they didn’t spend a lot of time catching up, he wore a baseball cap, etc.

But if you thought this break-through meeting of the exes signaled the dawn of Brand and Jen 2.0, you’d be dead wrong.

According to an E! News source, “Someone extended the invitation to Brad to come to Jen's party and he accepted. He wanted to support Jen and it was a momentous occasion. But that's the extent of it. It was a social evening with a lot of people who have been a part of her life. They definitely aren't dating or on that path. They are friendly, but that's it."

Message received. According to an Entertainment Tonight source, Pitt spent the bulk of the evening with George Clooney and Orlando Bloom and headed out before the end of the party. Another of Brad's exes, Gwyneth Paltrow, was also there, though there's no intel on whether they also had a chummy reunion.

Now that we’ve probably eked out every ounce of information about the Brad-Jen reunion, we can’t help but wonder where Angelina Jolie stands on the matter … Sources, come forth!
