It's easy to get lost in the glamour of awards season, but before you spend the next week on the couch lamenting your wardrobe’s lack of sparkle and your building elevator’s dearth of Michael B. Jordan make out sessions, take a second to peek behind the scenes. Celebrities don’t just wake up with perfectly bronzed skin and enviably taut stomachs, they have makeup artists and stylists and trainers and Spanx and “Bridget Jones knickers” …

InStyle caught up with Kate Beckinsale at our annual Golden Globes after party, hosted with Warner Bros., on Sunday evening. The Underworld star gave us serious “Like a Virgin”-era Madonna vibes in a strapless white tulle Aadnevik gown with a structured bodice, her blonde-tinged brown locks in loose curls at her shoulders and a pair of diamond chandelier Anita Ko earrings adorning her ears.

And though it doesn’t look like much would fit underneath the garment in terms of underwear, Beckinsale would beg to differ. “I basically have Bridget Jones knickers under there, but you probably can tell that,” she said with a laugh. Um, we really, really can’t, Kate.

If Beale Street Could Talk star and emerging fashion icon Kiki Layne made a daring transition for the after-party circuit, arriving on the carpet in a frilly and glittery green Valentino minidress. The key to pulling off her semi-sheer look? A bodysuit, of course.

Emmanuelle Chriqui also party-hopped her way into the 2019 awards circuit with a non-traditional dress. The Entourage alum arrived at our fete in a plunging white Haney halter gown with a slit stretching up its front and a thin black waist belt decorated by a large flower applique.

Surprisingly, the Toga-esque gown didn’t require a lot of extra alterations. “I only had to wear tape,” Chriqui told us, “but just on the sides so I didn’t need to fuss.”

As for candid red carpet veteran Kristen Bell, she revealed in her night-of Instagram story that not only was she wearing Spanx, but that her glam team actually attached them to her dress. That’s next-level right there.
