This day has been a long time coming. Beloved H&M-owned brand COS first made a splash in Europe in 2007, and fashion lovers have been obsessed ever since. So when it was first announced that the label would finally be available in the U.S. nine months ago, the fashion world took notice—and waited patiently to shop the line's budget-friendly pieces on this side of the pond. Now, the day has finally come for New Yorkers: The brand's first location in the city is officially open.

It’s a huge deal for fans of COS (which stands for Collection of Style), who first got a taste of the line when its U.S. e-commerce site launched last summer. Following the opening of a Los Angeles location in October, the brand received a warm welcome to the East Coast at the store's launch party held around the corner on Greene Street on Wednesday. And it was no surprise that the fashion industry flocked to the SoHo spot to celebrate the long-awaited arrival of the brand.

In its signature classic style, women’s staples such as wool coats and pleated culottes line the simple-chic walls of the 4,950-square-foot store, as well as accessories and menswear. "Our philosophy is that less is more," head womenswear designer Karin Gustafsson told InStyle when the brand's e-commerce site first launched last summer. "There’s a movement toward simplicity, where people are taking better care of themselves and thinking forward about their health and lifestyles. Even with fashion, they want pieces for the long-term."

If you’re in New York City, check out the new location at 129 Spring Street. And if not, don’t worry—you can still get in on the shopping action. Scroll down to check out some of the brand’s classic pieces, available now at
