Victoria's Secret Angel Lily Aldridge Opens Up on Wearing the $2 Million Bra and Being Nervous in Front of Her Husband
Now that Halloween is officially over it's time to get ready for mistletoe, stocking stuffers, and the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. It is, after all, the most wonderful time of the year.
A time when our favorite supermodels take to the stage in the most luxurious lingerie and we all receive inspiration for our New Year's resolutions. The coveted $2 million bra is also a major highlight, and this year Lily Aldridge will get to showcase the Victoria's Secret Fireworks Fantasy Bra, which includes over 6,500 precious gems all set in 18K gold.
Luckily, we got a chance to catch up with the California bombshell before it all goes down, and she had so much to share with us, from what it takes to get in tip top shape for such an epic show to how she stays fresh faced while tackling her busy schedule. Read on to learn what it's really like to walk in Aldridge's heels.
How does it feel to be the Angel that was chosen to wear the $2 million bra?
It’s amazing, of course! It’s such an honor to follow the footsteps of the women who have worn it before, and I’m so grateful to Victoria's Secret for choosing me, and making this dream come true.
How long has this been a dream of yours?
Since I saw my first Victoria's Secret fashion show as a little girl. It’s such a huge fantasy for so many young girls and just to be a part of the show and to also get to wear the fantasy bra is amazing.
What's the best part about being a Victoria's Secret Angel?
The best has been the comrade and the friendships I’ve made with the other Angels. It’s a really special bond that we’ll have for the rest of our lives.
You've been working with Victoria Secret for a while now. Do you ever get nervous?
I get mostly anxious and excited, but if my husband is there in the audience I get nervous. But it’s not as bad as it was at first and I really have fun doing it.
What's your advice for looking great in your underwear?
It’s all about confidence and finding something that you feel comfortable in and that fits you. Whether it’s cotton underwear or a sexy and embellished lingerie outfit, I think it’s about finding what works for you.
What are some of the ways that you're preparing for the show?
I do a lot of Ballet Beautiful. I love Ballet Beautiful. I think it’s really great for my body type. It helps to keep you long and lean, and I love working out with my trainer, and I try to get a lot of beauty sleep.
How do you stay looking great while traveling a lot?
Drink a lot of lemon water. I have an amazing team, and I have to get a lot of sleep. I think it is so important. I have a few hours before my next flight, so I’m going to go take a little nap.
What are the benefits that you've noticed from drinking the lemon water?
It’s very alkalizing and it’s good at detoxifying. I try to be really healthy and I actually really like the taste. They are lemons that I get from my garden.
What else do you have in your garden besides lemons?
I just planted pumpkin and squash with my daughter. So, hopefully they’ll be growing next fall. We have our own little garden. I planted the lemon tree in the spring for my daughter, and the lemons just ripened. I love making my lemon water, but we also made lemonade, which was much sweeter and she enjoyed it.
What do you usually eat for breakfast?
I love eggs and bacon, and a side of avocado. I think it’s just delicious. I also drink tea every morning: either a English breakfast or green tea.
What's the number one thing you think helped you whip back in shape after giving birth? I did a lot of Ballet Beautiful. I ate really clean. I had to eat a lot because I was nursing. I ate a lot of roast chicken sweet potatoes, and a lot of avocados. I did a lot of cooking for myself.
What’s your tip for taking a great selfie?
I like for the phone to be pointed down at myself and add a peace sign. I do a lot of those on my Instagram, and I really like filters that make the picture look really old.
The 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs December 8th at 10/9 Central on the CBS.
