It's Valentino's 84th Birthday! See 7 Celebrities Who Adore His Designs
Happy birthday to Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani, better known as Valentino. Today marks the iconic designer’s 84th birthday. Since emerging on the fashion scene back in the early ‘60s, Valentino has made his mark on the industry in a major way.
Known as the master of haute couture, the Italian visionary’s impressive career included dressing almost every A-lister and socialite in Hollywood. Although he retired in 2008 after presenting his last haute couture show in Paris, the brand lives on with countless celebs still gracing red carpet events in Valentino designs. In his over 45 years in business, Valentino’s dressed everyone from Audrey Hepburn to Sophia Loren, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Lopez, and Cate Blanchett—just to name a few.
In honor of the couturier's big day, we rounded up seven celebs who regularly wear Valentino designs. See these celebs’ standout looks in the pictures above.
Never one to repeat an outfit, Hathaway's red carpet style rarely—if ever—disappoints. Here, we see the starlet experimenting with three very different Valentino looks. On the left, the actress rocked a pixie cut and a floral frock from the Italian designer at the 2012 Ballet Fall Gala in New York City. Then, with drastically lighter locks and a sheer gown, Hathaway stunned at the 2013 Met Gala. To the right, the actress mixed textures in a chic, two-piece ensemble at the 2014 premiere of The Intern.
Always elegant and sophisticated, Streep has worn Valentino to countless events during her career. Here, the actress stepped out in Valentino designs at the Ricki and the Flash New York City premiere (left). Then, in a blush-colored skirt and shirt combo (center), she's seen attending the American Film Institute's 40th Life Achievement Award ceremony. And, of course, at the 2010 Oscars (right), Streep wore this memorable white gown by Valentino and looked absolutely stunning.
Kidman kills it on most every red carpet she walks. These three looks from Valentino are no exception. To the left, the actress scorched in a red-hot gown with a bold, bow detail at the 2007 Oscars. Then, at the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival, the star is pictured (center) in an embroidered gown. On the right, Kidman radiates classic elegance while attending the Queen of the Desert premiere at the 65th Berlinale International Film Festival.
Knightley frequently chooses Valentino as her go-to designer—and we can see why. Stepping out in London wearing a full-length, embroidered gown (left), the actress looked effortlessly chic. Then, in the center photo, Knightley is a vision of sophistication and elegance at the New York premiere of Anna Karenina. To the right, the stylish star stepped out in a flowing, floral frock also by Valentino at the 87th Annual Oscars.
Aniston's classic, streamlined red carpet style is perfectly complemented by Valentino's tasteful, form-fitting gowns. Here, she wore a variety of silhouettes from the designer, including this stunning, red strapless number (left) at the 2013 Oscars. Pictured center, the former Friends star went for a black-and-white Valentino gown at a cocktail reception in Beverly Hills, Calif. To the right, the actress attended the 67th Annual Golden Globes in her go-to style staple: a classic black gown.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Parker can do no wrong on the red carpet, as is proven with these gorgeous Valentino gowns. At the 2013 New York City Ballet Fall Gala (left), the actress wore a floral frock with vintage jewelry and looked stunning. Then, at the 2010 premiere for Sex and the City 2, SJP radiated confidence in a neon-yellow dress that fit her perfectly. To the right, she's seen in an elegant, black dress while attending a dinner in honor of Valentino's 45-year-long career.
Paltrow is a no doubt a red-carpet favorite. Here, the fashion-forward lifestyle guru is seen in three very different Valentino designs.
