The days of running out of characters on Twitter may soon be over. According to Re/Code, the social media platform is currently developing a new product that would allow users to exceed the 140 character limit. This move would be a major (and hopefully positive) change for the company, as they continue to try and attract new users and increase engagement.

As of now, it's unclear how Twitter is planning to go about increasing the character limit, but they may be considering excluding links and handles in the count—something frustrated users are sure to enjoy.

This isn't the first character change that has occurred as of late. Twitter recently allowed users more room to comment when re-tweeting and did away with the character limit in direct messages. No word as to when the new product would roll out, but we're crossing our fingers it will be soon.
