News Awards & Events Fashion Week Tracy Reese Talks Michelle Obama and That Dress By Meghan Blalock Published on September 9, 2012 Pin Share Tweet Email Photo: Alex Wong/Getty; Steven A Henry/Getty Needless to say, the Mrs. Obama was the topic of conversation at today's Tracy Reese show. "I think Michelle Obama is a very inspiring woman and the opportunity to dress her has always been an honor for us," the designer told InStyle.com. "She is the essence of women I already understand, she expresses herself—she's not dictated to by fashion or even her situation. She's really been a modern First Lady in that she makes her own choices." For the now-iconic DNC dress, Reese updated a Spring 2012 design with a fresh color scheme. "The colors were amazing," said Reese, "But it ended up being what she brought to the dress—it was the right time, the right moment, the right place, definitely the right woman and the right speech." And—good news for the rest of us!—the designer is rushing replicas of the dress into production. Plus, see more stars in Tracy Reese.
