"Topping Makeup"? A Korean Actress Breaks It Down
From BB creams to rubber face masks, Korean beauty mavens have become famous for putting innovative twists on everyday products. Now, K-beauty vanguards are waving a proverbial magic wand over one major beauty trend—"No-Makeup, Makeup."
In a recent episode of On Style's hit-series "Get it Beauty," a Korean television program that broadcasts the latest and greatest in K-beauty, actress Jung So-min shared a makeup routine that she calls "Topping Makeup." Stateside, Jung So-min's dewy makeover looks a lot like the barely-there trend what we've seen backstage during NYFW, season after season. But the Korean way just sounds so much cooler. Watch Jung So-min's tutorial for yourself, here.
Don't let the five-step regimen intimidate you. The actress creates her "Topping Makeup" look with just three multipurpose products (foundation, concealer, and blush), letting her Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer in R20 Porcelain ($27; sephora.com) double as highlighter and the brand's HD Second Skin Cream Blush in 215 ($26; sephora.com) act as eye shadow and a subtle lip color.
Let's see if the "Topping Makeup" trend officially makes its way west. In the meantime, we'll start practicing.
