People magazine is celebrating a major milestone! In honor of its 40th anniversary, the magazine recruited Taylor Swift to recreate its inaugural cover, which starred Mia Farrow, who was making rounds promoting The Great Gatsby at the time.

The "Shake It Off" singer complemented her retro-inspired waves with a string of pearls, a sheer polka-dot blouse, and a delicately wrapped neck scarf to tap into Farrow's iconic Daisy Buchanan look (see the original 1974 cover below).

In this week's issue, Swift candidly talks about being single: "Being on my own, prioritizing my girlfriends, my family and my music above everything else and trying things I never thought I'd try," she says of the personal changes she has made. "It's really been a liberating and freeing time."
