THROWBACK ALERT: Taylor Swift's "Really Great" Senior Year in 2008 Interview
Taylor Swift’s come a long way to become the contemporary pop superstar we know and love. Before she cloaked her identity in Swedish pseudonyms and requested to be excluded from certain narratives, Miss Swift was just an All-American teen, excited to graduate high school and top the country charts—yep, just a typical teen …
Though times have certainly changed for the soon-to-be 27-year-old as her star continues to rise, little else captures Swift’s joy and excitement better than the interviews she gave fresh out of high school.
At an event for Venus Embrace in 2008 (she was named their “Goddess of Summer”), a jovial Swift took a moment to chat with E! News about her recent accomplishments. “It feels really awesome to be a recent high school graduate,” Swift told reporters, “I think I had the best senior year ever. I never expected my senior year to be as fun as it was or as interesting as it was. I didn’t go to any football games, but I played a lot of concerts. It was a really great senior year, and just to top it off with graduation and having my diploma—it’s so cool!”

Pretty cool, Tay—but perhaps even cooler, baby Swift was already climbing to the top of the charts. “My record label told me I had the number one and number two single on the country charts and I was just like, ‘Are you kidding me?? Really?!’ It was such a fun moment,” Swift said.
Tay, no matter what happens, you’ll always be Goddess of Summer in our hearts.
