Starbucks Announces Unicorn Frappuccino—but It Goes Extinct in 5 Days
Starbucks is bringing a dose of whimsy to its menu with a new springtime drink offering that promises to change colors and flavors with a single stir.
While the coffee giant has long surpassed the traditional cup of joe with warm weather drink options including cold brew mocktails and flavored refreshers, the Seattle-based corporation is taking things up a notch with an enchanted new drink item that's sure to add some magic to your morning.
On Tuesday the company officially announced the Unicorn Frappuccino blended beverage, which boasts a crème Frappuccino base complemented with dashes of mango syrup and a "pleasantly sour blue drizzle" before being topped off with a sweet and sour dusting of pink and blue powder and vanilla whipped cream.
In a news release, the company claims, "Like its mythical namesake, the Unicorn Frappuccino blended crème comes with a bit of magic, starting as a purple beverage with swirls of blue and a first taste that is sweet and fruity."
Advising drinkers to give the beverage a stir for a magical transformation, Starbucks revealed, "Its color changes to pink, and the flavor evolves to tangy and tart. The more swirl, the more the beverage's color and flavors transform."
If that sounds like your kind of treat, act quickly: The beverage is "as fleeting as a rainbow" and will only be available in stores from Wednesday, April 19, through Sunday, April 23, while supplies last.
