Starbucks's New Affogato-Style Frappuccino Is What Dessert Dreams Are Made Of
Few things say "summer" like an ice cold frappuccino, and now you can happily switch up your standard Starbucks order. Today, the mega chain announced its latest frozen coffee creation: the Affogato-style Frappuccino, and it's the caffeine-infused confection you've been waiting for.
The new beverage is inspired by the classic Italian dessert, made with a scoop of vanilla gelato or ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso, and consists of a bold shot artfully poured over a frappuccino, resulting in an Instagram-worthy marbling visible through the clear plastic cup.
There will be three "official" Affogato-style Frappuccino flavors: Vanilla Bean (pictured above), Caramel, and Mocha, but, starting today, any "off-menu" item can be ordered affogato-style. The drink joins the S'mores, Caramel Waffle Cone, and Double Double Fudge Bar frappuccinos on the roster of summer-only menu items. We know where our afternoon pick-me-up is coming from.
