Rejoice, Starbucks fans: almond milk is coming.

The company announced the news in a press release today, stating that the ingredient is one of the site's top customer product requests. Beginning Sept. 6, Starbucks Almondmilk will be available in more than 4,600 stores, joining soymilk and coconutmilk as a non-dairy alternative.

But don't expect the beverage chain to use any old brand of the popular drink add-on. In true Starbucks form, they're doing it their own way: "We created our own almondmilk recipe to complement our hot, iced and Frappuccino blended beverages," said Yoke Wong, manager of the Starbucks beverage R&D team. "It was designed so that when steamed, it creates a rich foam for hot beverages and is delicious and creamy when served in cold beverages."

But what makes it so unique? "The almond butter in our almondmilk adds body and complements the roasty notes of espresso," Wong added. "Because it’s unflavored, customers can customize to their taste preferences." Sounds like a major win to us.
