What do you get when you cross a square-shaped nail with a lengthy stiletto manicure? "Squareletto" nails, of course. Long talons with flat edges have been trending for a few #ManiMondays now, offering up a less-intimidating alternative to the stiletto's claw-like shape. Squareletto nails can be considered the block-heel counterpart with a slightly more comfortable arch, if you will. "It gives you the boldness of a stiletto, but the squared tip makes it more functional and wearable," says celebrity manicurist Gina Edwards for KISS products. "They're a great shape for the workplace and transition easily into the evening."

Since the look requires some length, we recommend playing with nail extensions (gel or acrylic is totally your prerogative) at the salon, or filing a set of faux nails into your desired shape if you prefer to take the DIY route. Realistically, the squareletto mani is pretty similar to the coffin-tip nail—both trends feature a super-long shape, that gets slightly thinner toward the top and is flat at the very end. Whatever you decide to call it, you don't have to worry as much about jabbing out your own eye as you would with an ultra-sharp stiletto.
