She’s Alive! Kate Dickie Says She Will Miss Being Lysa Arryn on Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones fans will have to wait until April 12 for the premiere of Season 5, but we’ve gotten our GoT fix during the Sundance Film Festival. Over the past few days, we’ve welcomed Throners of seasons past—like Jason Momoa (Khal Drago), Ralph Ineson (Dagmer Cleftjaw), and Kate Dickie (Lysa Arryn)—into our InStyle portrait studio, as each traveled to Park City, Utah, to promote their newest indie projects.
It was hard to keep our Thrones talk subdued, and so by the time Dickie came through to promote her horror thriller The Witch, we just had to ask what it was like being on the hit HBO series. “It’s a very tight show,” she told us. “The people are very close, from the writers, to George [R.R. Martin], to all the departments. I got to work with the most amazing actors and it was just an amazing job to do.”
Unfortunately, her time on the show came to an end in Season 4, when she took a fatal tumble through the Moon Door thanks to a shove from Littlefinger. “I’m going to miss being Lysa,” she added. “Most characters you play you’re kind of hiding a lot of what you feel, but she had no edit. Everything she felt was just there, and I found that really interesting and exciting.” Lysa may be gone, but not Kate—the project she’s in Sundance for, The Witch, got acquired, which means she’ll be back on screens big and small soon.
