To achieve those perfect waves, she uses Paul Mitchell’s Pro Tools Neuro Unclipped 1.25 Inch Styling Cone ($110; paulmitchell.com for salon locations), but if you’re working with a thick mane like Rodriguez, Elam suggests passing a flat iron over the roots (she loves T3's Singlepass Styling Iron, $160; sephora.com) to keep the hair close to the head.
“Maintaining her hair through the day requires different options depending on the humid or dry weather, how long the day of work is, and how many hair changes we have,” Elam adds. To keep flyaways at bay, she recommends White Sands Orchids Oil ($26; whitesandproducts.com) as well as Oribe’s Supershine Light Moisturizing Crème ($49; oribe.com) to replenish moisture as needed.RELATED: Editors’ New Year’s Beauty Resolutions: Getting Stronger, Healthier Hair
