Scarlett Johansson’s Giant Back Tattoo Is Probably in Honor of Her 3-Year-Old
Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost made their Emmys red carpet debut last night, and here are a few words that would accurately describe them: Classy. Smitten. Demure. Essentially award-worthy.
We were so busy gawking though, that we kind of missed another debut going on at the same time — that of Johansson's giant back tattoo. The actress showed off some new ink of colorless roses and thorns climbing up her back.
This is the first time we're getting a clear look at the tattoo, though there have been murmurs about it for awhile. Vogue Australia reports it was first spotted on the set of The Avengers in 2017, but people thought it was fake — and clearly they were wrong.
The roses are hardly Johansson's first go at getting a tattoo, though. Before getting new back art, she already had a sun rising over an ocean on her arm, a bracelet on her wrist, and a horseshoe on her ribcage.
What makes this new tattoo potentially more special than them all, though, is Johansson's personal connection to roses. She has a 3-year-old daughter named Rose with ex-husband Romain Dauriac, so clearly the flower strikes a chord with her.
