Scandal's Costume Designer Lyn Paolo Explains Olivia's Looks from Season 3, Episode 4

It's back to business as usual for Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and her team of gladiators! In last night's Scandal episode, after leaving behind a few scandals of her own (being named the President's mistress and then her run-in with a bomb-strapped terrorist), Liv is ready to take on a new client: a philandering Senator accused of murder. Good thing for us — that means more chic suits in the court room. "Once she's in court, it's more of a traditional look," costume designer, Lyn Paolo, told InStyle.com. "Our Olivia Pope at the office is much sweeter." Outside of the court house, Olivia wore something that we've never seen her in before: plaid! "This really was a departure for us," Paolo said of the plaid Ralph Lauren coat. "For the first time, things aren't clear to her and we used the coat to convey that."
