Say Hello to Miss Golden Globe 2015, Greer Grammer!
Congratulations, Greer Grammer! The crowning of Miss Golden Globe 2015, bestowed upon the daughter of actor Kelsey Grammer and make-up artist Barrie Buckner, officially marks the beginning of awards season! “It’s something I’ve always really wanted to do! I’m so excited and I still can’t believe this is real,” Greer divulged to InStyle before the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and InStyle's star-studded reveal at Fig & Olive in West Hollywood tonight. Each year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gives the coveted title of Miss (or Mr.) Golden Globe to the child of a celebrity, who is typically an aspiring young actor or actress. The recipient assists with the ceremony and becomes part of one of Hollywood's most celebrated events. Previous honorees have included Sosie Bacon, Laura Dern, Rumer Willis, Melanie Griffith, and upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey star, Dakota Johnson.
The rising starlet, who started acting when she was just a toddler in preschool, told us that her parents are thrilled about her Golden Globe honoras well as her blossoming acting career as one of the stars on MTV’s hit comedy series, Awkward. "The youngest I remember being asked what I want to be when I grow up and not answering ‘a princess’ was probably in the second grade, which is when I started saying ‘actress,’” Greer reminisced. “I’ve always known that this is what I want to do. My parents are very excited!” Greer also added that the success of her show, which is going into its fifth season this coming January, along with her former beauty pageant days have somewhat prepared her for her Miss Golden Globe duties: "I’m kind of used to interviews and being on screen and on a stage. Plus, I did pageants back in my day so I’m very used to being on stage in heels for hours and answering questions,” she laughed.
While Greer is not nervous about tripping on stage (à la Jennifer Lawrence) thanks to her years of training in the spotlight, she did reveal that she is anxious about sharing a stage with some of her personal heroes. “I think I’m more nervous to actually see people I admire. Being on stage with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler doesn’t seem like a real thing that is going to happen,” she gushed. “I’m excited right now, but I’m sure when the date gets closer I will be freaking out. When people come on stage to get their awards I’m going to be like ‘Hi, I love you!'” So who is she most excited to meet? “Well, I mean I want to be Reese Witherspoon,” she divulged, “She’s prettyperfect. I feel like if I see her I might have to take a moment and breathe.”
Be sure to watch Greer make her golden debut onstage handing out the statuettes with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler during the upcoming 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards, airing live on NBC on Jan. 11, 2015.
