Ryan Reynolds Knows the Exact Moment He Realized Blake Lively Was “the One”

Contrary to what the writers of How I Met Your Mother might believe, Ryan Reynolds just proved that good things do happen after 2 a.m. In an interview with GQ, the hunky father-of-two revealed that late-night moment he realized Blake Lively was “the one,” and everything changed in their relationship.

“We were hanging out at this little restaurant in Tribeca that’s open really late, and this song came on and I was just like, ‘Want to dance?’ No one was in there, so it was just totally empty,” he said. “And it was just one of those moments where halfway through the dance, it was like, ‘Oh, I think I just crossed a line.’ And then I walked her home. And, uh, you know, I don’t really need to go into what happened after that.”

One gorgeous wedding and two young kids later, we’re well aware of Blake and Ryan’s envy-inducing love story. But how did it all start? Well, they were on a double date, but not with each other. “She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl. That was the most awkward date for that respective party because we were just like fireworks,” Reynolds told People in February.

In October, Lively revealed another tidbit about their romance: They fell in love at the Japanese restaurant O Ya in Boston, and celebrated Reynolds’s 40th birthday at the eatery’s N.Y.C. location.
