Designer: Alexander Wang

Location: Pier 36

What was it like: Wang's previous collection may have spoken to the continued athleisure obsession (swoon), but this season took a sharp turn to heavy metal, baby. From the music itself to the abundance of studded and chained garments (long skirts, sleek pantsuits) paired with masculine, clunky black boots, there was nothing flowy or feminine about this collection, period. Models Kendall Jenner and Behati Prinsloo both strutted down the runway looking almost unrecognizable in grunge with messy hair and beyond serious expressions on their faces.

Why we love this collection: Sure, black ruled at this show--there's no doubt about that. But let's be honest, who doesn't consider this basic color a wardrobe must-have? And the edgy additions of studs and chains on virtually every garment, with a few appearances of plaid and white studded sweaters in between, made this collection anything but basic.
