A law enforcement official told The New York Times that the package sent to De Niro’s production company early Thursday morning “appears to be from the same sender” as those delivered to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, CNN’s John O. Brennan, liberal philanthropist George Soros, U.S. Representative Maxine Waters, former Attorney General Eric Holder Jr., and U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The package addressed to De Niro was discovered at TriBeCa Productions around 5 a.m., removed by the NYPD by 6:30 a.m. and taken to The Bronx for disposal. Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/Getty Images Soon after the early morning interception, Trump posted a tweet that could be construed as a response to the deliveries. In said tweet he seemingly blames the media for these acts of hatred, writing, "A very big part of the Anger we see today in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the Mainstream Media that I refer to as Fake News. It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description. Mainstream Media must clean up its act, FAST!" Though every package contained a device resembling a pipe bomb, it’s unclear whether any of the devices were actually functional. The sender or senders remain at large.
