Now this is a side of Rihanna we haven't seen before.

Today Entertainment Weekly shared the first look at the superstar's role in the upcoming film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and we already can't wait to see more.

In the short clip, RiRi strikes a seductive on stage in a 1920s flapper getup. The singer-turned-actress reportedly inhabits several personas in the sci-fi flick, which tells the story of two special operatives—played by Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne—who attempt to maintain order throughout the universe and are sent on a major mission to battle forces that jeopardize the future of mankind. Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Clive Owen, and more big names also appear in the project.

"Rihanna was my first wish," the project's director Luc Besson told EW. "First, because of her voice and the way she smiles and looks and how she expresses herself. Second, because you know she won’t be intimidated on the set. She plays stadiums with 100,000 people. You know that girl isn’t shy about the camera and the crew and all this."

Catch Valerian when it hits theaters on July 21, 2017, and watch the movie's first teaser trailer when it debuts this Thursday.
