The countdown to the third installment of the Bridget Jones’s Diary franchise has officially begun and while glimpses of Renée Zellweger’s reprisal as an expectant mother have kept us biting our nails, we finally know just how long we’ll have to wait until Bridget Jones’s Baby hits the silver screen. Directed by Sharon Maguire, the debut film’s original director, the picture is slated for release Sept. 12, 2016, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While the wait is still nearly a year away, there are plenty of reasons Zellweger and Jones fanatics alike are drawing a can’t-be-missed circle around the calendar date. Yes, the blonde beauty is returning for the flick, but so is Colin Firth, the always-handsome Brit who portrays Mark Darcy. The best part? Former Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey has also been tapped to star alongside the celebrated cast. We’re sure this next installment will be filled with plenty of swoon-worthy scenes!
