Reese Witherspoon Looked Positively Regal in Purple at the 2016 Oscars

Saoirse Ronan, Rachel McAdams, and Naomi Watts weren't the only ones who got the jewel-tone trend memo at the Oscars; Reese Witherpoon sported a stunning plum Oscar de la Renta gown that almost was another color. "Last week, it was lavender," reveals stylist Leslie Fremar. "We remade it in a darker purple because we thought it was really fresh and looked beautiful with her skin tone."

The body-skimming gown featured a fan-like front detail and matching back bustle, as well as an intricate black corset. "The shape of the fan was really different and something I hadn't seen before, and the black corset was really sexy," she says.

Tiffany earrings and four bracelets bedecked with diamonds finished the look, explains Fremar. "We didn't want to compete with how beautiful, but simple, the dress was."
